Bramfield and Thorington Charity Day
Spring sunshine, soft ground, woodland flowers and birdsong – the perfect setting for the second Bramfield and Thorington ! Seventy eight riders had a lovely morning either taking the seven mile route, or the more endurance minded headed off on the extension route of 13 miles, At the same time a local group of intrepid cyclists put 50 miles under their wheels
Alongside this ran the fun dog show in memory of Jeanette Peruzzi who was the inspiration behind the first event and lost her battle with Cancer last year. Twenty classes sponsored by local residents and businesses gave much pleasure to the audience and participants. Biggest class was loveliest eyes. Ahhhh! Then the usual raffle, BBQ, teas, bar, pie competition and the less usual “where will Womble poo?”visualise bets in the form of names on garden sticks placed in the ground to predict where the horse will deposit, in a small enclosure. Great fun but getting a Shetland to poo to order is not possible. Allow plenty of time if you add this to your next activity! The day was in aid of the East Anglian Air Ambulance and Cancer Research UK and totals raised from the ride alone are approaching £1500 and the final total we expect to be close to £5000!
Thanks also to ALL the local businesses and individuals who helped us with this event. And to everyone who came along and made it such a success. We are very grateful!
